A new TEDx event will be held in Vaasa on April 25th. Fourteen different speakers will shed light on the theme “Unseen Forces” from many different perspectives.
Lukumanu Iddrisu came to Vaasa about 10 years ago. He is a highly driven, social, and intelligent person. Still, it took him five years of hard work before he could land a professional job in the region.
“I want to share my experiences and teach others so they don’t have to suffer like I did,” says Lukumanu Iddrisu.
Today, Lukumanu Iddrisu is a project manager for the University of Vaasa’s spouse program, works part-time as a lecturer at VAMK, and is also actively involved in his free time as chairman of the Vaasa For All association.
Speaker at TEDx Vaasa Event
Lukumanu Iddrisu is one of the fourteen speakers at the new TEDx event taking place at the Wasa Innovation Center in Vaasa. The core of the concept is that the speakers share their ideas and powerful personal stories on stage. The event is filmed and later made freely available to everyone, with the hope of improving the world through ideas worth spreading.
The theme for this TEDx event is “Unseen Forces,” meaning the forces that affect us quietly. Lukumanu Iddrisu’s story will touch upon the importance of hidden networks.
Non-Profit event organised by individuals
TEDx events are non-profit events organised by individuals. Behind this particular event are the organisers Laila Fe Balinggan and Johanna Kauppinen .
Both entrepreneur Laila Fe Balinggan and lawyer Johanna Kauppinen are passionate and involved in societal issues. In this case, they are carrying the torch lit by Kristoffer Jansson, who organised the first TEDx event in Vaasa in 2017.
Helping to Keep the Lights On
The organisers don’t make any money from the event, but there are still costs for the venue, filming, marketing, and other expenses. To cover these costs, Vaasa Insider will assist the organisers with marketing, selling tickets (at €139 plus VAT), and securing sponsors.
