VEO’s multi-million-euro investment in a factory expansion is ready. The Vaasa-based company is growing and has over a dozen new jobs to offer. Many positions are available for skilled engineers in all departments.
The Vaasa-based company VEO has invested several million euros this year in expanding its factory in Runsor. The new part of the factory is already in use and the only things missing are a few items of furniture and fixtures.
“The expansion resulted in an area where project packages can be tested and customers can get acquainted with their solutions before installation in the field,” says Timo Ala-Heikkilä, CEO of VEO.
In Vaasa, VEO manufactures switchgear, for example, but also designs and builds solutions and packages from other manufacturers’ products.
“We are a project house and one of our trump cards is that we can freely use the best products on the market,” says Timo Ala-Heikkilä.
Customers get their own space
VEO has taken the customer experience a step further with its new factory expansion. The company’s customers are now even offered their own office space and meeting rooms where they can work freely inside the factory.
“Customers come from all over the world and might spend a couple of weeks here, so it’s important that they have somewhere where they can work undisturbed,” says Timo Ala-Heikkilä.
Big employer in Vaasa
VEO currently employs around 620 people, including, for example, self-employed people who work 100 per cent for the company. More than 500 people are on the company’s own payroll.
“In Vaasa alone, we now have around 400 staff,” says Timo Ala-Heikkilä.
VEO has grown rapidly and wants to continue growing.
Major recruitment campaign underway
Timo Ala-Heikkilä says that in Finland alone, VEO has between ten and twenty job vacancies to offer at the moment. In addition, there are open positions with the company in both Norway and Sweden.
“We can offer a so-called expat programme that is intended for someone who wants to try out what it’s like to work in Norway or Sweden,” says Timo Ala-Heikkilä.
VEO’s need for design engineers, for example, is great. The company is, for example, looking for System Engineers and Lead Engineers with different types of competences.
Both juniors and seniors are welcome
Ari Pätsi, VEO’s Engineering Director, explains that there are several ways into VEO, that the company has a trainee programme but is also looking for experienced experts. In both cases a wide range of meaningful work is on offer.
“We operate in an industry of the future. Related to high technology and the energy transition, there is always work to do,” says Ari Pätsi.
The work at VEO is cutting edge, but because of its wide range of activities, the company can also offer insight into the entire process, from the design phase, to finished products and the installation of complete systems in the field.
Staff in key role
VEO’s strategy in recent years can be summarised in two words: profitable growth. Timo Ala-Heikkilä says that the company’s employees are very important to them and that the company therefore is growing on their terms.
There is a deeper meaning to the work being done. Timo Ala-Heikkilä says VEO is contributing its expertise towards solving the climate crisis.
“Already now, maybe 70-90 per cent of our business is related to the energy transition, and I hope that this figure can grow to 100 per cent,” says Timo Ala-Heikkilä.
The company’s current job openings are available on VEO’s website veo.fi.
