The Vaasa EnergyWeek is being held for the 13th time. From March 17-20, it’s time again for one of the Nordic region’s most important events in the energy sector.
A lot points to this year’s Vaasa EnergyWeek being bigger than ever. Kristoffer Jansson, EnergyVaasa’s Brand & Communication Manager, says that, of course, it’s difficult to know before it starts, but the pace at which pre-registrations are coming in looks promising.
– The City Hall will be full, the numbers are still coming in, but at best, we look forward to hearing from over 190 different speakers, says Kristoffer Jansson.
A busy week
EnergyWeek traditionally starts on Monday with the Energy and Climate Seminar. This year’s seminar focuses on how EU industrial and support policies affect Finnish politics and the business environment.
– It’s also the only program conducted in Finnish, as the 28 other seminars will be in English, says Kristoffer Jansson.
The week continues with popular main themes; wind power and renewable energy on Tuesday, energy storage on Wednesday, and clean gas energy on Thursday.
– These large themes have proven to be successful, which is why they are the same as last year, while this year there is a bit more focus on cybersecurity, AI, and defense themes, says Kristoffer Jansson.
Technology with multiple functions
Energyspin’s Marko Koski is organizing one of the events where the defense theme will be discussed, or more specifically, what business opportunities can arise for both civilian and military use.
– It’s not just about weapons, but products and services that can be useful both in civilian and military contexts, says Marko Koski.
The event, held on Wednesday afternoon, will be moderated by Kirsi Kokko. Invited guests for a fireside chat include VTT’s Sauli Eloranta and Saab’s Kristian Tornivaara. Samuel Broman, Riku Kokkonen, and Mika Romanoff will then follow and discuss the opportunities this field presents specifically in Ostrobothnia.
A wide range of topics promised
A recurring theme among this year’s seminars is discussions about international cooperation and opportunities, especially within Europe. Other themes visitors can expect include circular economy, hydrogen economy, AI in data centers, innovative energy technology, and the workforce of the future.
The main coordinator for the event is EnergyVaasa / Vasaregion Development Company VASEK. Here you can find the full program and register for events.
