“We aim at providing real impact with research and providing students with the necessary knowledge to succeed in work life”, says Cataldo De Blasio.
Cataldo De Blasio is Associate Professor (Tenure Track) in Energy Technology at Åbo Akademi University, Faculty of Science and Engineering in Vaasa. His research, work and passion have taken him deep inside the world of chemical process engineering, including in leading research in biofuels and gas technology.
“Energy technology and knowledge about chemical processes are very important for Vaasa. In the region, there are many prominent companies working in these fields.”
Cataldo De Blasio, originally from Italy, is active in research in both Vaasa and Turku. Cataldo is also a Docent at Åbo Akademi in Turku and at the University of Vaasa.
Good Collaboration with companies
Cataldo De Blasio says much of his work concerns energy technology in one form or the other. He highlights the fact that Åbo Akademi University’s wide network includes many companies. According to De Blasio more and more focus is directed towards being even more integrated with companies and their needs.
“We try to have a good collaboration with companies. It is in the private sector, out on the field, the place where we can make a difference. The research and careers the student will have, really have an impact.”
Cataldo De Blasio tells, in process technology, minimal factors and optimization can have multiple benefits, such as minimizing environmental impacts as well as financial savings profiting millions of euros.
